Master's of Art History

Art History concerns the study of the work and lives of artists and deals with questions having to do with the forms, traditions, meanings, and cultural and theoretical contexts of works of art and architecture. The program offers a M.A. in a two-year course of study. This is a medium-sized program with a full-time faculty. All faculty members pursue research interests in their spheres of specialization, including Renaissance, Baroque, Asian, 19th and 20th Century, African-American, and Contemporary Art. The world-famous Classics Department offers courses in Art and Architecture of the ancient world, which supplement the offerings of the Art History faculty. Part-time instructors, drawn primarily from the distinguished array of art centers in Cincinnati, also teach courses that contribute to the depth of the program.
