Installation Art
This course will provide students with an interdisciplinary experience that enables them to explore concepts of site-specific, non-traditional and multimedia art. It provides an introduction to the practice of Installation Art, allowing students to experiment with constructing space while investigating issues of scale, repetition, color, line and content within a defined physical space using a variety of media.
Life Painting
Advanced problem solving and individual work in oil paint using the human form as a reference.
Practicum
The application of professional practice skills for fine artists.
Sculpture Foundry
A course in the basic techniques of casting art objects in aluminum or bronze.
Special Studio
A studio that concentrates on a specific conceptually based strategy for making art, emphasizing intra-disciplinary creative environment within which to explore art.
Special Topic Graduate Seminar
Seminar in a specific topic of current relevance to graduate students in Fine Arts.
Teaching Workshop
Discussion of teaching methodologies and approaches to the presentation of subjects in studio, seminar, and lecture.
Gallery Internship
Supervised work in professional gallery. 9 hours each week to assist in gallery preparation, installation, lighting, packing, openings, etc.
Professional Internship
This course provides constructive learning experiences in support of the visual arts through supervised activity within the studio of a professional art-related organization such as a gallery, museum, studio, or production facility. If working with a professional artist, students will have the opportunity to gain in depth knowledge about the work that goes into a long term project, the business aspects of being a working artist, exhibition preparation, and marketing and promotion of art work. If working for an organization, students will gain experience in practices and requirements and how they interface either with other departments or with other businesses. The student will gain an understanding of day-to-day operations and the interactions of colleagues within the organization.
Studio Research Assistantship
Students will conduct research for Fine Arts faculty who are working on specific, substantial studio art research projects. Students will gain in-depth knowledge about the work that goes into a long-term project, the business aspects of being a working artist, exhibition preparation, and marketing and promotion of art work.
Independent Graduate Study
