Reiss Scholarship Here to Stay
The Jonathan Riess Scholarship Fund, established last year in memory of our dear friend and colleague, is now permanently endowed thanks to our generous donors. The challenge match by Jennifer and Richard Housh was critical to our success. Their generous pledge to match each gift, up to $12,50
Mary Kate Behan, a senior in the Art History program, is the recipient of the Jonathan Riess Scholarship for 2007-2008 academic year. She will be recognized at the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning's Scholarship Reception on November 8th.
Mary Kate is an accomplished artist in painting and drawing and also getting licensure in Art Education. She has a 3.95 GPA and has been on the Dean's List every quarter. The award has special meaning for Mary Kate, who had two classes with Professor Riess. Mary Kate plans to earn a M.A. in Art History and is seriously considering a museum career so that she can continue to share her passion for art with a wide audience. It is students like Mary Kate that this fund is aimed at serving with scholarships that aid and encourage those who are enthusiastic about learning.
