School of Planning: Computer Requirements

All incoming School of Planning undergraduate students are required to purchase an HP Workstation Laptop. Purchasing is accomplished through the CampusHP online Store. Here you can choose one of the models that meet our specifications.

Software

There are several required software packages for incoming students. Listed below you will see the names of the packages and estimated costs (educational price). All software will be available for purchase at Summer Orientation. In all cases you must first obtain your student ID. This will be part of the Summer Orientation Process.

Note This list only includes software required for the first year of study. Certain programs may have additional requirements for years beyond the first year. Because these requirements can vary and change from year to year, we ask that you speak to your program coordinator for more information.

1. Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium
   $306 + tax from the UC Bookstore
2. Microsoft Office 2007/2008 for Windows and Mac
   $8.00 + tax from the UC Bookstore
3. Microsoft Windows XP Professional (optional for Apple Systems)
   Windows is included with HP computers. For Apple Systems, purchasing Windows is optional for the first year. It is only necessary if you wish to run your own Windows programs. Read more about windows on your Mac
