  • DAAP Food Drive

    DAAP Tribunal is collecting non-perishable food items for St. Vincent DePaul of Cincinnati! It is also a competition between majors to decide who can collect the most food. Boxes will be set up in each major's respective area in DAAP; and also in the Library, DAAP Cafe, DAAP Store, third floor installation area, and the main offices.

    Stuck in a rut? Don't know what to try next? Maybe you just need an excuse to leave your desk for a while. All are perfect reasons to mosey on down to the Grand Stair for a little inspiration, human interaction, and refreshment at the Visual Delight! This year's montage will include hundreds of images, video clips, and songs, all choreographed in a sensory celebration, just when midterms are on the horizon and our creative engines could use some revving.

    Brett Terpeluk, founder of Studio Terpeluk and one of the "10 to Watch" emergent California designers, will discuss his collaboration with Renzo Piano on the sustainable design of the California Academy of Sciences, the largest LEED Platinum museum in the world.

    This lecture is co-sponsored by Students for Ecological Design and SAID and is part of the Climate 101 Lecture Series.

    Students for Ecological Design (SED) will be discussing the history of conservation efforts at UC... most specifically geared towards our expertise--recycling in DAAP.

    This is a good meeting to attend if you are new to SED and want to know part of what we are about. This is also perfect for those that want to know what's going on with recycling on campus, or want to know what can/cannot be recycled!

    PLEASE NOTE: This meeting is actually in 4428, as usual. I cannot choose 4428 as a location (why?), so I just chose the closest room. Fail.

SSC is a subcommittee of PACES and allows student organizations and individuals to unite for a common goal - the sustainability of our school, our region, and our planet. Join us to discuss current initiatives on campus such as the bike share program, recycle, sustainable food, special event, and volunteer opportunities.

    After the mixer, stay for the free showing of The Age of Stupid at 7:00 pm in the MainStreet Cinema. Free popcorn will be provided.

  • Competing at USGBC's GreenBuild

    Stephanie McBride, Donald Mouch, and Corey DiRutigliano, all graduates of the Master in Architecture program at UC, will be presenting their winning competition design that they displayed at USGBC's Greenbuild.

    The competition was to rejuvenate the Drop-Inn Center, a homeless shelter in Over-the-Rhine in Cincinnati. Stephanie, Donald, and Corey won the local competition, which was hosted by Emerging Green Builders (a sub-committee of the US Green Building Council) and entered by approximately 20 teams. As part of their winnings, they received a trip to USGBC's Greenbuild in Phoenix, AZ, a conference attended by tens of thousands of professionals every year. The conference is by far the biggest of its kind specifically focusing on sustainable design and construction.
