Architecture Admission Information 2010-2011

UC is now accepting applications for Fall 2010. Students may apply online at the Office of Admissions website.

High school applicants to Architecture must have completed or be in the process of completing:

  • 4 units of college prep English
  • 4 units of college prep math, including one unit of pre-calculus, calculus, or advanced math
  • 1 unit of physics
  • 1 additional unit of science
  • 2 units of social science
  • 2 units of a single foreign language
  • 1 unit of fine arts
  • 2 additional units of any of the above

Academic Credentials

The academic credentials of the pool of applicants seeking admission to Architecture vary each year. Architecture is a highly selective program and has a limited number of spaces available.

The freshman class profile for Architecture is based on the middle 50% of the 2008 entering freshman class:

  • GPA: 3.72 - 4.00 (4.00 scale)
  • ACT score: 28 - 32
  • SAT score: 1270 - 1370 (Critical Reading and Math only)
  • Average class rank: Top 10%

Priority Application Deadline

Applicants who submit a complete application by 5:00 PM on November 15, 2009 will be pooled and reviewed for selection. All applicants will receive a decision by January 15, 2010 - please do not call prior to this date regarding a decision. Applications received after November 15 may be considered on a space available basis. If you have questions regarding the admissions process, please contact the UC Office of Admissions at 513 556 1100. Portfolios and letters of recommendation are not accepted as a component of the admissions process.

Application Information

A high school admissions application is considered to be complete when the Office of Admissions has received the following documentation:

  • an application for admission, including a personal statement and statement of co-curricular activities

Note Consideration of the applicants' personal statements and statements of co-curricular activities will be factored into the admissions decisions.

  • an official high school transcript
  • the results of either the ACT or SAT (including the Writing Component)
  • official college transcripts for those students who are enrolled in courses for post-secondary credit
  • $50 application fee

Transfer Applicants

Application Information

Students seeking to transfer from other colleges and programs at UC or another regionally accredited university or college must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average in previous college work to be considered for admission. All applicants must have completed the equivalent of the fourth year in college prep math (pre-calculus, calculus or advanced math) and one unit of physics.

For priority consideration, complete transfer applications should be received by March 1, 2010 for the following autumn quarter. Notification of admissions decisions will be made beginning April 15.

A transfer admissions application is considered to be complete when the Office of Admissions has received the following documentation:

  • application for admission
  • official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
  • official high school transcript
  • ACT or SAT test scores (if fewer than 90 quarter hours/60 semester hours of college credit completed)
  • $50 application fee

Note Transfer students to the School of Architecture and Interior Design are generally admitted to the first year of the program. If offered admission, transfer students from other architecture or design programs who are seeking advanced standing must submit a design portfolio directly to the School of Architecture and Interior Design for review.

Current UC students wishing to transition into a DAAP program should submit an Application for Change in College and Program by March 1, 2010 for the following autumn quarter. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space available basis. This application is available in DAAP Student Affairs, room 5470 Aronoff, or in any college office on campus. Notification of admissions decisions will be made beginning April 15.


Computer Requirements

Incoming students at DAAP are required to purchase laptop computers. We have arranged specific configurations for each program that best suits the coursework you will be taking. For detailed information, please see a complete list of computer requirements for all programs.
