The 2009 rankings of graduate programs by "U.S. News & World Report" include DAAP's industrial design and fine arts programs.

The recently released rankings of the nation's best graduate programs by U.S. News & World Report includes two offering by the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP).

U.S. News ranked UC's graduate industrial design program at No. 6 in the nation, beating out programs at Cranbrook Academy of Art, California College of the Arts, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and others.

These are not the first high marks earned by UC's industrial design program and School of Design. For instance, in the most recent survey of design employers by the Design Futures Council and published in the journal, DesignIntelligence, UC's undergraduate industrial design program ranked No. 2 in the nation. These 2008 DesignIntelligence rankings represent the third straight year that the industrial design program has been so highly regarded. In addition, the graduate program in industrial design was ranked No. 3 in the nation by the Design Futures Council surveys, marking the second year in a row the graduate industrial design program has been so highly placed.

According to the Design Futures Council surveys, UC undergraduate industrial design rankings top those at programs located at Carnegie Mellon University, Ohio State University, Pratt Institute, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Similarly, UC's graduate industrial design program is also ranked ahead of programs like those at Carnegie Mellon and Ohio State.

In addition, UC's School of Design - of which industrial design is a part - is ranked among the world's best by BusinessWeek magazine. Each fall, the magazine publishes a special report called the "D-School" report card listing the globe's best design program. Since the inception of this report card two years ago, UC's design programs have made the grade among an elite, international listing.

Also included in the 2009 U.S. News graduate program rankings was UC's fine arts program. The UC graduate master of fine arts program was listed at No. 45 in the nation, ahead of fine arts programs at American University, Cornell University, the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and many others.
