Featured Conversation: Living with Non Humans

Katherine Hayles, author of Bacteria to AI, and UC aerospace engineer Kelly Cohen talk about how humans can coexist with non-human cognitive systems, from bacteria and plants to AI. Hayles proposes an "integrated cognitive framework" in place of a human-centered hierarchy, Cohen focuses on explainable, trustworthy AI, and both call for strong regulation modeled on aviation safety so that AI extends human thinking instead of replacing it.
