Frank Lloyd Wright (1867–1957) has been recognized as one of the greatest American architects of all time. He designed more than 1,000 buildings practicing his concept of organic architecture, which sought harmony between nature and human dwellings.

Wright designed 11 buildings in Ohio, 7 of which are highlighted here in photographs by Thomas R. Schiff. Schiff utilized a panoramic camera mounted on a tripod. Once activated, the camera rotates in a circle making one continuous photograph in a full 360° sweep. Schiff’s images capture the spatial depth, undulating curves, and incomparable beauty of Wright’s designs.

A renowned architectural photographer, Schiff has photographed hundreds of buildings around the country, including many of America’s significant landmarks, libraries, theaters, religious sites, art museums, and over-the-top buildings of Las Vegas. This collection of photographs came from a collaboration between the Ohio History Connection, the Westcott Center for Architecture + Design, and Thomas R. Schiff to honor Frank Lloyd Wright and his architecture throughout Ohio.
